FREE MUSIC FRIDAYS AT ALCHEMY IN MURPHYS!

Every Friday, Alchemy features jazz standards by Matt Cullen on our patio from 5:30-8 pm. Matt will play with an "enhanced rhythm" section and will sometimes be joined by guests. The music is free; all we ask is that you call 728-0700 for reservations and that you eat some dinner. Feel free to dance if the mood strikes you.

Changes at Alchemy!!!







If you haven't been in to Alchemy lately, here's what you are missing. We have just completed a remodel: new paint, new lighting and fans, new tables and chairs, a second dining room, 12 new tap handles with many beers never before seen in Murphys, a new Market featuring retro and old-fashioned candy, a 55 inch LED TV, and expanded hours, open 8-9 pm with a new bar menu.

Alchemy Featured on "Calaveras Gold" TV Show!


A new episode of "Calaveras Gold", Ken Jones' excellent show highlighting interesting places and businesses in Calaveras County, has just been completed, and Alchemy has a 13-minute segment. Great photography of the food and restaurant and an interview with Jason are the highlights. Latest Recipe

Here is our most-requested recipe, for our Gold Nugget Cheese Bread. Enjoy!

1 loaf ciabatta bread
1/2 pound salted butter, softened to room temperature
1 c. frozen corn, defrosted
1/2 c. chopped green onions
2 serrano chiles, minced
4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
1 c. shredded white cheddar cheese
1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine the butter, corn, green onions, chiles, garlic, cilantro, and cheeses in the bowl of an electric mixer and mix on low speed with the paddle attachment until ingredients are combined. Gradually increase the speed and whip until the mixture is light and fluffy. (Note: this procedure can also be done by hand with a whisk). Slice the bread in half lenghwise, then spread the butter mixture evenly on both halves. Place bread on cookie sheet and bake until golden brown. Slice into one-inch wide strips and serve.
